!@#$ Ear infections :(

I have plenty to catch up on here but this post is an unfortunate milestone for K and the family. First Children's ER visit, first baby with a fever over 102, and first !@#$ ear infection.

We have been lucky so far considering my water issues with my ears as a kid and hubby's chronic ear infections that led to him needing tubes. K may have unfortunately inherited the susceptible ear genes it seems.

She woke up today at 2am with a 101 fever which went back and forth from 100 to 102 throughout the morning and didn't react to tylenol or motrin. We called our ped. when it reached 103 and since they're not an hour away (since we moved and haven't switched to a closer one) and K was acting less and less like her usual happy self, they told us to go ahead to CHOA where at check in her temp. was 104.

Poor baby was poked prodded and tested for several hours and given the diagnosis of 1 ear infection and random virus. She also got sick once in response to the stress but thankfully after everything an IV antibiotic and prescription gave her some relief. Her fever has gone away with the meds. so far since we've been home.

Unfortunately update: a week later when the antibiotic was done a low grade fever resurfaced and the pediatrician found that not one but both ears are now infected. Please pray both resolve with our new antibiotic.

K has been her happy awesome self through every day since the ER visit (including walking full time!) and if it wasn't for the tiny fever you wouldn't know she's got the infection. I'm very thankful she isn't in pain and God let me notice the fever to treat the issue before it got worse and actually painful.

One more bright note I have new stats. K is now 22lbs and 29in (yep at 7 months)! Between this and walking and being into everything the pediatrician asked her "Didn't anyone tell you you're only 7 months and not supposed to be able to do all this yet?" I have a feeling K will always blow expectations and limitations out of the water (just as her big sibs have as well).
